Job summary

NSH Security Solutions is seeking a Weighbridge Operator for the Coffs Harbour Waste Transfer Station. You will operate the weighbridge, accurately record vehicle data, classify wastes, and process transactions while providing friendly customer service.

Role requires attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and a current driver’s licence. You will work on-site with environmental and safety compliance responsibilities and contribute to efficient waste management operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, weighbridge, waste management, transport, administration or similar operational environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional customer service, including with difficult customers.
• Good computer skills and confidence using databases, POS systems and Microsoft Office or similar software.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to record information accurately and perform basic numerical calculations.
• Ability to follow procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety and environmental responsibilities.
• Current driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Operate the weighbridge and associated computer/software systems accurately and efficiently.
• Weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles in accordance with site procedures.
• Record vehicle registrations, customer details, waste types, waste classifications, weights and other required information.
• Ensure waste loads are correctly identified and classified for charging and disposal purposes.
• Process transactions and issue receipts, tickets or other documentation as required.
• Monitor vehicle movements through the weighbridge and ensure traffic flows safely and efficiently.
• Identify and report overweight, incorrectly classified or potentially non-compliant loads.
• Provide friendly, professional and helpful service to customers, contractors and waste transport operators.
• Explain site procedures, accepted waste types, fees and disposal requirements to customers.
• Ensure waste entering the facility complies with the site's waste acceptance requirements.

Job description

The Weighbridge Operator is responsible for the efficient and accurate operation of the weighbridge and associated waste receival activities at the Coffs Harbour Waste Transfer Station. The position provides the first point of contact for customers, contractors and waste transport operators entering the facility. The Weighbridge Operator ensures all incoming and outgoing vehicles and waste loads are accurately recorded, correctly classified and processed in accordance with site procedures, workplace health and safety requirements, environmental legislation and applicable waste management regulations. The role requires a strong focus on customer service, accurate data entry, cash handling where applicable, compliance and maintaining a safe and professional site environment.

About you

• Previous experience in a customer service, weighbridge, waste management, transport, administration or similar operational environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to provide professional customer service, including when dealing with difficult customers
• Good computer skills and confidence using databases, point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office or similar software
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to accurately record information and perform basic numerical calculations
• Ability to follow procedures and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team
