Job summary

Mid-Western Regional Council is seeking a Biosecurity Weeds Coordinator to lead weed management and biosecurity programs across the region, reporting to the Manager Waste and Environment Services. You will supervise staff, provide technical advice to landholders and ensure safe, compliant delivery of operations.

The role requires knowledge of weed management, biosecurity legislation and strong leadership to support positive environmental outcomes and community engagement in the Mudgee area.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Conservation and Land Management or equivalent experience.
• AQF3 Chemical Accreditation and safe handling of herbicides.
• Provide First Aid Certificate.
• Extensive regulatory and compliance training.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate weed inspections and roadside spraying across the region.
• Lead and develop operational staff with coaching and performance feedback.
• Plan, monitor budgets and delivery plans for weed programs.
• Prepare reports and grant applications for funding submissions.
• Coordinate private contract spraying and ensure inspection targets are met.
• Monitor compliance with legislation and WHS requirements.
• Build positive relationships with landholders and stakeholders.
