Job summary

Blue Mountains City Council in Katoomba NSW seeks a Weeds Compliance Officer (12 months temporary; maternity leave) to perform inspections across land tenures, engage with landholders, authorities and contractors, and support enforcement.

The role focuses on identifying weed threats, maintaining records and contributing to biosecurity outcomes through program shaping and resident guidance.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (or similar)
• Class C license is required
• AQF 3/4 chemical accreditation required
• Blue Mountains weed identification and weed management experience essential
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and computer skills; WHS commitment

Responsibilities

• Undertakes inspections across diverse land tenures.
• Collaborates with landholders, public authorities and contractors.
• Supports enforcement under the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015 where required.
• Identifies and responds to emerging weed threats and improves weed management.
• Maintains spatial and operational records and reports.
• Shapes priority inspection programs and provides practical resident advice.
• Contributes to biosecurity outcomes across Blue Mountains.
