Job summary

Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action VIC invites applications for a Leading Biosecurity Officer Plants to provide regional leadership across Victoria in plant biosecurity, invasive plants and animal management, and agricultural chemical programs.

You will lead complex projects, manage a Biosecurity Officer, and deliver high-quality regulatory and advisory services to industry and the community.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate complex programs and resolve service delivery issues.
• Experience in leading and managing teams, supervision and staff development.
• Managing biosecurity projects with liaison and collaboration across stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication, reporting, briefs and presentations.
• Ability to interpret legislation, undertake compliance activities and support enforcement.
• Tertiary degree in Agricultural Science or equivalent; verification required; role based in Swan Hill or Kerang with hybrid work.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of plant biosecurity and invasive species programs across Victoria.
• Coordinate complex projects and supervise a Biosecurity Officer for regulatory services.
• Engage internal and external stakeholders to support preparedness and response to biosecurity risks.
• Represent the department in investigations and, when needed, in legal proceedings.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and provide advisory services to industry and community.
• Support ongoing operations with hybrid work arrangements in Swan Hill or Kerang.
