Job summary

Snowy Monaro Regional Council in Cooma is seeking a Water Wastewater Civil Maintenance Team Member on a permanent full-time basis. The role contributes to civil works for water supply and wastewater drainage, liaises with team leaders, and maintains asset data.

You will work weekends/on-call as required, demonstrate WHS commitment, and hold relevant certificates or be willing to obtain them within stated timeframes.

Qualifications

• Construction Induction White Card.
• Ability and willingness to work weekend and on-call rosters and be available to respond to emergency callouts when required.
• Physically fit to complete all aspects of the position.
• Certification III in Water Industry Operations or willing to obtain within 24 months.
• Traffic Controller Certificate or willing to obtain within 12 months.
• Drivers Licence MR (Medium Rigid) or willing to obtain within 12 months.
• Certificate of Competence in Excavator Operations or willing to obtain within 12 months.
• Confined Space entry or willing to obtain within 12 months.
• Asbestos Handling Certificate or willing to obtain within 12 months.
• Demonstrated literacy and computer skills with the ability to complete paper and electronic forms and record data.
• First Aid and CPR Certificate or willing to obtain within 12 months.
• Operate a Drain Cleaning System/ High pressure jetting Certificate or willing to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the maintenance of civil works associated with water supply system and wastewater drainage systems within the Council area.
• Liaise with the Team Leader and/or Supervisor in ensuring civil works are undertaken to meet Council standards.
• Undertake work as required on relevant asset installations for the Water and Wastewater Services department.
• Demonstrate a commitment to Council’s WHS Policies and Procedures at all times.
• Acquire, process and document Water and Wastewater data in electronic and hard copy format.
• Demonstrate a commitment to Customer Service.
• Be available for weekend and on-call rosters and be available to respond to emergency callouts when required.
• Promote information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision-making, enhance capability and optimise capacity.
• Contribute to the performance of Council: demonstrate professional conduct, make the best use of knowledge, experience and skills and be accountable for own decisions and actions.
• Contribute to a safe workplace: comply with legislative and organisational requirements and be accountable for own decisions and actions.
