Taronga Zoo Sydney is seeking an experienced Water Systems Operator to join the Asset Management team. This full-time role operates water treatment and reticulation across the zoo and exhibits, ensuring water quality and compliance with standards.

You will perform diverse duties, maintain equipment, and support sustainability targets while working on-site at Taronga Zoo Sydney. A trade qualification and NSW license are required.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification or equivalent in water systems operation.
• Proven experience with water treatment and reticulation processes.
• Certificate III in Water Operations completed or willingness to complete.

Responsibilities

• Test and record water quality; assist restoration and repairs.
• Operate and monitor water treatment and reticulation systems.

• Located at Sydney’s Iconic - Taronga Zoo – Cammeraigal Country
• Full-time, ongoing position
• TCSA Wages Award,Water Systems Operator,Base salary$75,914 + 12% superannuation + allowances where applicable

About the Role…

The Water Systems Operator will provide a broad range of skills across the water systems for cyclic maintenance, restoration, repairs and ensure water quality is maintained at the acceptable standards.

• Perform all types of duties associated with all water systems maintenance, including but not limited to; Water quality testing and recording, commissioning restoration repairs, general housekeeping and construction work as directed on the zoo site.
• To develop skills in the operation of the water and/or sewerage treatment and reticulation systems in a safe manner.
• Monitor the operation of all water systems to ensure appropriate levels of disinfection and water quality is provided consistent with relevant standards and requirements.
• Adhere to works requisition system and follow through with projects in an efficient and effective manner.
• Ensure work is performed in a timely, cost effective manner to prescribed quality standards to meet stakeholder and Taronga’s needs.
• Perform all trade and non-trade related work activities as scheduled / allocated and instructed by the Supervisor, Water Systems.
• Maintain Taronga tools, vehicles and machinery in a sound and safe working condition.
• Comply and suggest sustainability practices in the workplace to help achieve Taronga’s sustainability targets and reduce the environmental impact.

About You…

We are looking for candidates that have:

• Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience in the operation of Water Systems related to Water Treatment Plants, Reticulation Systems and Water Treatment Plant processes
• Completed or willingness to complete Certificate III in Water Operations
• Hold a current NSW Drivers License or ability to have existing license formally recognised, including manual.
• Current vaccinations records for Q Fever, Hepatitis A maintained at your own expense.
• Willingness to undergo pre-placement medical examination:
• Pre employment Musculoskeletal and Fitness Assessment *Taronga will pay for this
