Job summary

Taronga Zoo Sydney is seeking an experienced Water Systems Operator to join our Asset Management team. The role is full-time, based at Taronga Zoo Sydney, Cammeraigal Country, with a base salary of $75,914 plus 12% superannuation and allowances where applicable.

The Water Systems Operator will maintain water systems across the zoo site, including testing, restoration, and ensuring water quality meets standards.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience in Water Systems operation, including Water Treatment Plants and reticulation systems.
• Completion or willingness to complete Certificate III in Water Operations.
• NSW Driver's Licence or equivalent recognition, including manual.
• Current vaccinations for Q Fever and Hepatitis A.
• Willingness to undergo pre-placement medical examination.
• Taronga will pay for pre-employment Musculoskeletal and Fitness Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Perform water systems maintenance including water quality testing and recording, restoration repairs, and general housekeeping and construction work on site.
• Develop skills in operation of water and sewerage treatment and reticulation systems safely.
• Monitor water systems to ensure appropriate disinfection and water quality to required standards.
• Adhere to work requisition system and follow projects through efficiently.
• Ensure work is timely and cost effective to meet Taronga's needs.
• Perform all trade and non-trade activities as directed by the Supervisor, Water Systems.
• Maintain Taronga tools, vehicles and machinery in safe condition.
• Support sustainability practices to help Taronga meet environmental targets.
