Job summary

Cairns Regional Council is seeking a Schedule Planner to coordinate and optimise daily water operations at the Magazine St Depot, Cairns. You will manage schedules, monitor workloads and resources, and resolve conflicts to ensure efficient delivery of planned, preventive, and reactive works.

The role requires a tertiary qualification in water operations or related discipline, a current Class C licence, and experience in field-based operational settings, with strong planning and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Water Industry Operations or a related discipline.
• Current Class C Driver Licence.
• Experience coordinating planned and reactive works in a field-based operational environment.
• Experience within water operations, utilities, infrastructure maintenance, construction or similar industries.
• Strong resource planning and scheduling capability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office applications.
• Well-developed written communication and reporting skills.
• Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and optimise daily water operations activities across field crews and Team Leaders.
• Manage schedules, monitor workloads and resources, resolve scheduling conflicts.
• Maintain accurate operational records and support coordination of capital and operational projects.
• Contribute to informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support reliable delivery of essential water services to the community.
