Hatch in Sydney is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Civil/Hydrotechnical team and contribute to a diverse range of mining, energy, and infrastructure projects with innovative, sustainable water solutions.

You will work on hydrological and hydraulic modelling, flood assessments, and technical reporting while collaborating with colleagues to support career growth in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering water resources projects across mining, energy, infrastructure, or consulting environments.
  • Strong foundation in hydrology and hydraulics; ability to solve complex challenges and work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience undertaking hydrological, hydraulic, and flood modelling studies.
  • Strong technical writing, analysis, and communication skills.
  • RPEQ and/or CPEng accreditation is preferred.

  • Prepare and review technical reports and engineering documentation
  • Develop and review project proposals and study deliverables

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Water Resources Engineer to join our Sydney-based Civil/Hydrotechnical team. About You

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.You are a collaborative and solutions-focused engineer with experience delivering water resources projects across mining, energy, infrastructure, or consulting environments. With a strong foundation in hydrology and hydraulics, you enjoy solving complex challenges, building trusted client relationships, and working as part of multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, sustainable outcomes.

You will also bring:

  • Experience undertaking hydrological, hydraulic, and flood modelling studies
  • Strong technical writing, analysis, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as QGIS, RORB, XP-RAFTS, URBS, TUFLOW, MUSIC, and HEC-RAS (1D and 2D)
  • The ability to balance multiple priorities and contribute across a diverse project portfolio
  • A willingness to coach, mentor, and support the development of junior engineers
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to fostering an inclusive team culture

Experience in water balance modelling, stormwater management, Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), sediment transport assessments, water supply systems, or flood forecasting and warning systems will be highly regarded. RPEQ and/or CPEng accreditation is preferred. Above all, you are passionate about delivering innovative water resources solutions that create lasting value for clients, communities, and the environment.
