Hatch is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects across road and rail environments. You will work within multidisciplinary project teams to support safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes that meet client and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and approximately four to eight years of experience in civil infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • 4–8 years’ experience delivering civil infrastructure projects (road/rail, energy or mining).
  • Experience in bulk earthworks, site grading, surface water management, earth structures.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake civil engineering design activities for transport infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare calculations, specifications, datasheets, and design reports.
  • Develop material take-offs and bills of quantities.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews.
  • Review and check drawings with civil designers and drafters.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with authority, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Commit to quality assurance, safety, and reliable delivery of projects.

Our Civil Engineering team delivers a broad range of services across the transport infrastructure sector, including site selection and planning, earthworks and site grading, drainage and flood modelling, spatial information, and digital terrain modelling. We work closely with our Earth Sciences colleagues to deliver integrated, practical solutions for complex infrastructure challenges. With a strong portfolio of existing projects, recent significant project wins, and a healthy pipeline of future work supporting Brisbane-based transport projects, we are looking to expand our team with an experienced Civil Engineer. You will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects across road and rail environments. Working within multidisciplinary project teams, you’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle, supporting safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes that meet client and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake civil engineering design activities for transport infrastructure projects
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, datasheets, and design reports
  • Develop material take-offs and bills of quantities
  • Participate in and contribute to internal and external design reviews
  • Review and check engineering drawings, working closely with civil designers and drafters to ensure standards are met
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery and client outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with relevant authority, statutory, and regulatory requirements
  • Commit to quality assurance, safety, and the reliable delivery of projects
About You

You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and have approximately four to eight years’ experience delivering civil infrastructure projects road/rail, energy or mining sectors. Your experience will include areas such as bulk earthworks, site grading, surface water management, and earth structures. You have working knowledge of civil design tools such as OpenRoads, 12d Model, Civil 3D, DRAINS, CivilStorm, or CulvertMaster, and are comfortable contributing across both design and construction delivery phases. Familiarity with road authority standards, particularly TMR, is highly regarded. You bring strong personal safety standards, communicate effectively, and work well with a diverse range of stakeholders. You are known for your integrity, customer focus, innovative thinking, and strong work ethic, and you are committed to ongoing professional development.
