Job summary

Banana Shire Council is seeking a general labourer to support the water services team. The role involves performing labouring tasks, operating backhoe and excavator, assisting the team and attending toolbox meetings. It requires a MR licence (provisional) and a Backhoe competency certificate.

Desirable HR licence and plant tickets are advantageous. You will liaise with clients and authorities, contribute to public relations, and participate in disaster management and routine administrative tasks

Qualifications

Compulsory MR manual driver’s licence (provisional).
Certificate of Competency – Backhoe is required.

Responsibilities

Perform general labouring duties.
Operate backhoe, excavator and other plant to required standards.
Provide assistance to the team as required.
Participate in toolbox and team meetings.
Assist with maintenance of Water and Sewerage Treatment Plants.
Contribute to promoting the Council image and public relations.
Liaise with clients, staff, the public, consultants, utilities and authorities as needed.
Undertake routine administrative tasks (e.g., timesheets).
Assist senior staff to improve work processes and develop new practices.
Participate in training, exercises and disaster management responses.
Undertake other duties as directed within skills and training.
