Job summary

Redland City Council is seeking a Water Industry Worker 1 (Labourer) to join the City Water team in a permanent full-time capacity. This hands-on role delivers reactive and planned maintenance across the water and wastewater networks, ensuring safety and efficiency while serving a community of over 65,000 properties.

You will operate tools and small plant, assist with construction and repair, and contribute to delivering over 14 billion litres of water and wastewater annually.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in construction, labouring, or a similar outdoor work environment.
• Current Class C drivers' licence; MR licence preferred; Construction White Card.
• Ability to participate in rotating after-hours on-call roster, including weekends and public holidays; physical capability to perform tasks such as confined space entry.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Operating tools, small plant, and equipment safely in a field-based environment.
• Performing manual labour tasks, including confined space entry and traffic management.
• Following health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; identifying risks.
• Working collaboratively to deliver tasks safely, efficiently, and on time.
• Providing professional customer service and communicating clearly with customers and the community.
