Job summary

Waverley Council is seeking a proactive Program/Project Officer to plan and implement strategic initiatives promoting efficiency in waste operations, driving waste minimisation and circularity, and improving customer satisfaction within the council area.

You will design and oversee programs, manage budgets and engage consultants to support audits, analyses and grant submissions in a dynamic local government environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in project management or environmental discipline.
• Understanding of environmental and waste management issues in local government.
• Strong analytical and data management capabilities.
• Excellent organisational ability and attention to detail.
• Experience developing projects from concept to implementation and evaluation.
• Experience with grant applications and/or technical reports.
• Excellent communication with non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborative and independent work capability.
• Commitment to EEO.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate initiatives to improve kerbside services.
• Deliver and monitor programs for waste avoidance, reuse and recycling.
• Update policies for resource recovery and waste management to align with the waste strategy.
• Prepare waste budgets, reports and submissions.
• Coordinate monitoring, analysis and reporting on resource recovery targets.
• Engage and coordinate consultants for audits, investigations and financial modelling.
• Coordinate submissions for external grants, regional partnerships and awards.
• Undertake additional duties as directed by the Manager Waste Operations & Engagement and Executive Manager Waste, Cleansing & Fleet.
