Job summary

Waverley Council is seeking a Senior Project Officer - Waste to lead innovative waste and resource recovery projects that deliver practical environmental outcomes for the community. You will plan and implement strategic projects, monitor performance toward targets, and coordinate consultants for audits and modelling.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as project management or environmental science.
• Strong understanding of environmental and/or waste management issues in local government.
• Excellent data management and analytical capabilities.
• Proven ability to design, deliver and evaluate waste-related programs.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate initiatives to improve kerbside services.
• Deliver and monitor waste avoidance, reuse and recycling programs.
• Update policies for resource recovery and waste management.
• Prepare waste budgets, reports and submissions.
• Collaborate to monitor and report progress toward targets.
• Coordinate consultants for audits, investigations and modelling.
• Develop submissions for external grants and partnerships.
• Undertake duties aligned with Waste Operations & Engagement management.
