Job summary

Nambucca Shire Council on NSW's mid-north coast is seeking a Waste Services Coordinator to oversee day-to-day waste and resource recovery services. You will work with contractors, internal teams and the community to ensure services are delivered effectively and customer expectations are met.

Successful candidates will have experience managing waste disposal facilities, contract/people management, strong communication, a valid driver's license and a WHS Construction Induction Certificate.

Qualifications

• Experience in the management of waste disposal facilities and associated infrastructure.
• Experience in project and/or contract management.
• Experience managing employees and contractors.
• Good communicator with strong written and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the contract for kerbside waste collection, including contractor performance.
• Ensure recycling and organic material operations align with Waste Services Agreement requirements.
• Effectively manage gatehouse and transfer station operations.
• Ensure landfilling operations and waste disposal comply with Environmental Management Plan and EPL.
• Promote recycling and alternate processing of waste materials through campaigns.

The Opportunity

As the Waste Services Coordinator, you will play a role in coordinating the day-to-day delivery of waste and resource recovery services across the Valley. Working closely with contractors, internal teams and the community, you'll help ensure services are delivered effectively, issues are resolved quickly and customer expectations are met.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Manage the contract for kerbside waste collection, including managing contractor performance.
• Ensures recycling and organic material operations align with the Waste Services Agreement requirements.
• Effectively manage gatehouse and transfer station operations.
• Ensure landfilling operations and waste disposal complies with landfill Environmental Management Plan and Environmental Protection License.
• Promote recycling and alternate processing of waste materials through marketing and education campaigns.

Who we are looking for?

To be successful in this role you should possess demonstrated experience in the management of waste disposal facilities and associated infrastructure, competence in project and/or contract management together with experience managing employees and contractors. You should also be a good communicator, be adept at computer data bases and reporting, possess a drivers license and WHS Construction Induction Certificate.
