Job summary

The City of Hobart is seeking a dedicated Waste Management Centre Operator to join the Waste Management Centre Team at the McRobies Gully facility in Hobart. This permanent, full‑time role supports the Waste Management Strategy and ensures safe, efficient operations.

You will operate and maintain plant and equipment, guide the public on waste disposal and recycling, manage site traffic, and participate in weekend roster work. The role offers above‑award wages and 13.5% employer superannuation.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Waste Management (CPP30719) or ability to acquire.
• Current Heavy Rigid Driver Licence is required.
• White Card Registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and efficient landfill and transfer station operations.
• Operate and maintain plant and equipment per manuals and procedures.
• Provide clear guidance to the public on waste disposal, recycling and recovery.
• Manage site traffic and inspect incoming vehicles for safety and compliance.
• Maintain a clean, compliant site and support weekend roster work.
