Job summary

Wagga Wagga City Council is seeking a motivated Plant Operator to join the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre team. You will operate and maintain plant and equipment, manage waste streams, and contribute to cleaner, safer operations across the site.

The role features a 38-hour week on a six-week rotating roster, weekend penalty rates, access to five weeks annual leave, and ongoing training. Current HR licence and CIT card are essential; forklift certificate is desirable.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated teamwork and ability to work independently.
• Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow site procedures.
• Ability to perform outdoor, hands-on tasks in a waste management environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain Council plant and equipment (loader, water truck, hooklift, landfill compactor).
• Manage disposal of municipal, construction, demolition, commercial and hazardous waste; maintain site safety and pollution controls.
• Handle PPE, documentation, and reporting; participate in team meetings.
