Job summary

The City of Hobart is seeking a dedicated Waste Management Centre Operator to support safe and cost-effective waste management practices at the Waste Management Centre (McRobies Gully). The role involves operating plant and equipment, guiding the public on disposal and recycling, and ensuring safety compliance as part of a permanent, full-time team.

Applicants should hold a Certificate III in Waste Management (CPP30719) or be able to obtain one, plus a Heavy Rigid Licence and White Card

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Waste Management (CPP30719) or the ability to obtain.
• Current Heavy Rigid Driver Licence and White Card Registration.
• Safety-focused operator with demonstrated experience in waste management settings.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and efficient landfill and transfer station operations.
• Operate and maintain plant and equipment per manuals and procedures.
• Provide clear guidance to the public on waste disposal and recycling.
• Manage site traffic and inspect incoming vehicles for safety and compliance.
• Maintain a clean, compliant site and support weekend rostered work.
