Job summary

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council is seeking Waste Operators to manage daily operations at Bungendore or Braidwood waste transfer stations. This permanent, part-time role runs 32–34 hours weekly with a 4-day pattern (Fri–Mon) across sites.

You will operate and maintain plant, handle waste collection, and process transactions for fees while delivering excellent service to customers and promoting safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience in frontline services in a complex operational environment.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Interest in waste management and environment; motivated to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake the daily operations of Council’s waste facilities, waste collection and illegal dumping responses.
• Operate and maintain Council’s plant and equipment; training provided if needed.
• Facilitate financial transactions for fees and charges related to waste services.
• Interact with customers to enhance the experience at waste facilities.
