Job summary

Yass Valley Council is seeking a reliable Transfer Station Operator for its part-time role at various Council Transfer Stations. The position is 17 hours per week, offering hands-on duties to operate our waste transfer facilities safely and efficiently.

You will assist customers, maintain site safety, and help with recycling and disposal tasks while complying with WHS policies. Prior experience and relevant licenses are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, well-presented transfer station facility.
• Assist customers with recycling and waste disposal.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service to the community.
• Monitor sites to prevent contamination and illegal dumping.
• Collect recyclables and items of monetary value; sort containers.
• Record daily takings and reconcile transactions.
• Follow WHS policies and procedures at all times.
