Job summary

Woollahra Council is seeking a permanent full-time Waste Collector at the Alexandria Integrated Facility, starting at 5:00am with early starts and weekend overtime available. You will join the Waste Services team to collect domestic waste across Woollahra Municipality, operate waste compactors when required, and work under the Waste Services Enterprise Agreement.

Applicants should be physically fit and ready to work in a team.

Qualifications

• HR Licence or willing to obtain within 6 months.
• Physical ability to perform general labouring duties.
• Experience in waste collection at local government level.
• Ability to follow work instructions and work collaboratively.
• Demonstrated safety awareness and willingness to be trained in safety procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Available to work varied hours including early starts.
• Proven reliability and alignment with Council values.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Potential to earn up to $93,815 p.a. plus super (inclusive of base salary plus additional allowances)

• Commencing at 5am at the Alexandria depot with free onsite parking

About the role

A permanent full-time opportunity has arisen for a Waste Collector to join our Waste Services team located at the Alexandria Integrated Facility.

As a Waste Collector, you will collaborate with your team to carry out waste collection duties of domestic waste throughout the Woollahra Municipality. Youwill also assist in driving the waste compactors and drive Council's waste trucks when required.

This position commences at 5:00am from Monday to Friday with the weekend overtime work also available. You will be based atour purpose built integrated facility in Alexandria and is employed under Council's Waste Services Enterprise Agreement.

To be successful for the role, you will be physically fit to undertake the demands of the role. You will be a dedicated worker with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with you peers.

• Physical ability to perform general labouring duties as outlined in section 7 of the Position Description.
• HR Licence or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
• Proven ability to follow work instructions as directed.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated awareness of WHS requirements and a willingness to be trained in Councils Safety procedures.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
• Available to work varied hours including early starts.
• Proven reliability and a commitment to Council’s values.
• Experience in Waste Collection at Local Government level.
