Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Virtual Clinical Care Centre's Mental Health Team. The role provides virtual mental health assessment and triage with compassionate, person-centred care to consumers accessing Triple Zero, across NSW.

You will work in a state-of-the-art environment at the NSW Ambulance State Operations Centre in Sydney Olympic Park, on a 12-hour rotating roster. RN registration with AHPRA is required and telehealth experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Hold current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Mental health nursing experience in acute, emergency, inpatient, community, crisis assessment or virtual mental health triage. Telehealth/virtual care experience is highly desirable.
• Strong mental health assessment, mental state examination, risk screening and triage skills with evidence-based clinical judgment.
• Understand the Mental Health Act 2007 (NSW) and apply recovery-oriented approaches to care.
• Excellent communication, empathy and rapport-building within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide virtual mental health assessments, triage and compassionate, person-centred care to consumers accessing 000 with mental health concerns.
• Coordinate care, referrals and follow-up to connect consumers with appropriate services.
• Collaborate with NSW Ambulance clinicians and operational teams to coordinate timely care for high-risk or deteriorating presentations.
• Be part of a multidisciplinary team of nurses, paramedics, and medical staff in a state-of-the-art environment.
