Job summary
Animal Referral Hospital Canberra is seeking a Veterinary Nurse Assistant for a part-time late shift (4pm/5pm to 2am). Join a dedicated team delivering high-quality care to hospitalized patients.
You will support nurses and vets, help with daily care, medication administration, and ensure hospital hygiene. Ideal candidates are enrolled or completed Vet Nursing qualification, adaptable, and have good communication and teamwork skills.

- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities
- Assist veterinary nurses and veterinarians as required.
- Monitor and care for hospitalized patients under ECC guidance.
- Administer medications as directed by the ECC team.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of hospital facilities.
- Handle and restrain animals with care and compassion.
- Wash, restock disposables and medications in pharmacy.
- Support nurse-led daily routines for patients.

- Assist veterinary nurses and veterinarians as required
- Monitor and care for hospitalized patients (under the guidance of the ECC team)
- Administer medications as directed by the ECC team
- Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of hospital facilities
- Handle and restrain animals with care and compassion
- Animal cage cleaning and re-setting, cleaning patient bowls etc.
- Walking, feeding and offering water to patients under nurse instruction
- Restocking disposables (needles, syringes etc) and pharmacy (medication)
- Maintaining cleanliness of hospital areas throughout the day/evening as required, including floors in treatment, ICU and ward spaces
- Daily laundry upkeep
