The Freehouse is seeking a dedicated Venue Manager to lead day-to-day operations at our Collingwood venue. You’ll oversee service, stock, and staff, with a focus on delivering high-quality guest experiences and maintaining strong team culture.

With 2+ years in a busy restaurant or bar, you’ll set the tone, grow the team, and partner with the GM, AVM and Head Chef to drive promotions, private dining and events. This on-site role rewards leadership and hands-on execution.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Venue Manager or Restaurant Manager.
• Strong hospitality leadership and team development skills.
• Experience in rostering, training and coaching staff.
• Knowledge of beverage costs, stock, wastage and COGS.

Responsabilités

• Oversee daily venue operations and service standards.
• Recruit, onboard, train and coach the team with the AVM and Bar Lead reporting to you.
• Create rosters aligned to trade and labour targets.
• Manage bar operations, stock, wastage and cost controls.
• Lead promotions, events, private dining and functions with the GM and Head Chef.

Venue Manager - The Freehouse Collingwood | A Seat at our table for anyone

Picture your best mate's place. The one with great taste in food, drinks and decor, where you walk in and someone's already pouring you something good...That's The Freehouse.

We opened on Rokeby Street in August, and there's a seat at our table for anyone. Our bar pours only Victorian. Our menu is naturally gluten-free, so nobody at the table is ordering off a "special" list, with South American flavour running all through it. We're backed by TWØBAYS Brewing Co, and we're just getting started.

We're looking for the host of the house

You're the one who remembers the regulars' orders before they sit down, spots the table that needs a little extra love, and makes a packed Saturday look easy. You set the tone, whether that's opening the doors at 11:30am or prepping the crew at 5pm, and you close out a great night with tomorrow already sorted. Most of all you are passionate about teaching these skills to your team.

You’ll work closely with our GM who handles strategy, P&L and the bigger picture. Day to day, the venue is yours along with the support from our talented Head Chef, AVM and Bar Lead.

• You've run a busy restaurant or bar as a Venue Manager or Restaurant Manager for 2+ years

• A full room gives you energy, you love hospitality and what it gives to people (guests and team)

• You build structure instead of waiting for it

• You give honest feedback with care, and follow it through

• You know your numbers and love a cheeky spreadsheet

• You have solid beer, keg management and wine knowledge

Bonus points for opening venue experience, functions, or familiarity with Lightspeed, SevenRooms, Me&U or Restoke.

The roster

We trade Wednesday to Sunday, moving to seven days in the future. This role works a rotating roster with admin days built in.
