Job summary

Argo Coal Management Pty Ltd's Carborough Downs underground Bord and Pillar mine in Queensland's Bowen Basin seeks a Ventilation Officer to ensure our underground ventilation system operates safely and efficiently, working with the Technical Services Superintendent.

You will own statutory and legislative requirements, implement and maintain ventilation, develop models, manage changes, budgets, contractor oversight, and SHMS reviews.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have strong technical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Experience with underground mine ventilation systems is desirable.

Carborough Downs underground Bord and Pillar mine is located in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, approximately 30km north-east of Moranbah and 160km from Mackay and forms part of the broader Argo Complex. This integrated mining complex includes the Ironbark Longwall Mine and Broadlea Open Cut, as well as a centralised Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP), where collaboration between our sites and teams is key to delivering safe and efficient outcomes.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

The Ventilation Officer role at Carborough Downs presents an exciting opportunity to play a vital part in the safe and efficient operation of a Bord and Pillar underground mine. Working closely with the Technical Services Superintendent, the role combines technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to ensure the underground ventilation system consistently performs to the highest safety standards.

Own all Statutory and Legislative requirements of the Ventilation Officer role as per related legislation requirements.

Ensure statutory compliance of the ventilation system.

Implement and maintain the mines ventilation system.

Provide technical instruction and feedback to the mine

Prepare strategic and operationally considered ventilation models in line with mine schedules.

Manage changes to the ventilation network.

Prepare ventilation budgets.

Contractor management.

Management of the tube bundle gas monitoring system.

Develop and implement sealing management plans.

Support the effective review and implementation of relevant SHMS documentation.
