Allquip Water Trucks in Rutherford NSW is seeking a skilled Vehicle Body Builder to join our growing team. This full‑time role offers a unique 4‑day work week and focuses on constructing and modifying high‑quality vehicle bodies for our specialist water truck fleet.

You will work from design specifications, perform welding and metalworking, and ensure safety and quality standards are met in a collaborative workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Completed formal training or apprenticeship in automotive body building, panel beating, welding or a related automotive trades discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in vehicle body construction, fabrication and assembly in a commercial or specialist vehicle environment.
• Proficiency in welding techniques (MIG, TIG and oxy‑acetylene) and metalworking skills.
• Thorough understanding of technical drawings, blueprints and specifications.
• Knowledge of safety practices and Australian Standards for automotive construction.

Responsibilities

• Construct, fabricate and assemble vehicle bodies to design specifications and drawings.
• Perform welding, cutting, shaping and metalworking using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Ensure work meets quality standards and Australian safety regulations.
• Conduct quality checks and inspections during build to identify defects.
• Collaborate with team members, engineers and supervisors to solve technical challenges and maintain workflow.
• Maintain and care for tools and workshop to ensure safety and organization.
• Document work progress and report to management.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of build processes and methodologies.
