Job summary

Meridian Industries in Wetherill Park, NSW is recruiting a Truck Body Builder to join our fabrication team. You will fabricate, assemble and fit truck bodies, trays and tippers to heavy vehicle chassis, with emphasis on welding, precise measurement and safe, quality workmanship.

You will read drawings, work with steel and aluminium, install hydraulic components and ensure production schedules are met while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

Qualifications

• 3 years experience and/or relevant qualification as a truck body builder or similar heavy vehicle tradesperson.
• Strong MIG welding and general fabrication skills.
• Experience with mild steel, high-strength steel and aluminium.
• Ability to read engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Experience manufacturing truck bodies, tipper bodies or similar equipment.
• Good understanding of heavy vehicle chassis and body mounting principles.
• Ability to accurately measure, mark out and fabricate components.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble truck bodies, trays, tippers, subframes and related components.
• Measure, cut, drill, grind, bend and form steel and aluminium.
• Perform MIG welding and other welding processes as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specs.
• Fit truck bodies and equipment to heavy vehicle chassis.
• Install mounting brackets, hinges, guards, mudguards and accessories.
• Install hydraulic components for tipper bodies and truck-mounted equipment.
• Assist with hydraulic cylinders, pumps, tanks and hoses.
• Carry out chassis and body measurements for correct positioning and weight distribution.
• Check finished work for dimensional accuracy and weld quality.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and operate workshop machinery safely.
• Follow quality assurance and WHS procedures.

About us :Meridian Industries is seeking an experienced and reliable Truck Body Builder to join our manufacturing and fabrication team

Location: Wetherill Park, NSW 2164

Reporting To : Service Manager, Service Supervisor, Operations Manager

Salary : AUD $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year (plus Super)

Main Duties / Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble truck bodies, trays, tippers, subframes and associated components.
• Measure, cut, drill, grind, bend and form steel and aluminium components.
• Perform MIG welding and other welding processes as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
• Fit truck bodies and equipment accurately to heavy vehicle chassis.
• Manufacture and install mounting brackets, hinges, guards, mudguards, toolboxes and accessories.
• Install hydraulic components associated with tipper bodies and other truck-mounted equipment where required.
• Assist with installation of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, tanks, hoses and associated equipment.
• Carry out chassis and body measurements to ensure correct positioning, alignment and weight distribution.
• Perform modifications and repairs to existing truck bodies and heavy vehicle equipment.
• Check finished work for dimensional accuracy, alignment, weld quality and overall workmanship.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Operate workshop machinery and fabrication equipment safely.
• Follow Meridian Industries' quality assurance and workplace health and safety procedures.
• Complete jobs within allocated production schedules while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
• Update and highlight all major and repeated failures to the Workshop Manager/Service Supervisor.

Skills and Experience

Qualification & Licences:

• Previous 3years experience and or relevant qualification as a truck body builder, boilermaker, fabricator or similar heavy vehicle tradesperson.
• Strong MIG welding and general fabrication skills.
• Experience working with mild steel, high-strength steel and aluminium.
• Ability to read engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Experience manufacturing truck bodies, tipper bodies, trays, subframes or similar equipment.
• Good understanding of heavy vehicle chassis and body mounting principles.
• Experience with hydraulic equipment is highly regarded.
• Ability to accurately measure, mark out and fabricate components.
• Experience using guillotines, press brakes, saws, drills, grinders and other fabrication equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
• Have a strong adherence OH&S and in keeping as safe workplace
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as required.
