Job summary

Bayside Vegies is seeking a Food Processing Worker in Queensland to support the production of processed vegetables under the guidance of the kitchen supervisor.

You will split, gut, and portion vegetables, hand cut to exact customer specifications, and pack and label products. The role requires operating kitchen machinery, moving stock from cold rooms, and assisting with deliveries when needed.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of food safety and HACCP principles.
• Good understanding of WH&S procedures.
• Must be able to work well in a team environment.
• Reasonable knife skills are essential.
• Must be physically fit and healthy.
• Reliability and punctuality are not negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Splitting, gutting and portioning of Jap and Jarrah pumpkin.
• Portioning potatoes and sweet potatoes to exact size requirements.
• Hand cutting to exact customer specification all vegetables such as capsicums, eggplant, shallots, leeks, cabbages, zucchini, corn and others.
• Operating commercial and industrial machinery in the production kitchen.
• Setting up the production kitchen for workers and volunteers, including moving stock from the cold rooms to the kitchen in the morning.
• Moving stock back to the cold rooms and cleaning the kitchen under HACCP guidelines.
• Washing of tubs, machine parts and kitchen equipment.
• Working closely with staff, volunteers and residents to achieve tasks set by the kitchen supervisor.
• Packing and labelling processed vegetables, using scales and label printer as directed by kitchen supervisor.
• Be available to drive delivery vehicles when required.
