Job summary

Whitehaven Coal invites motivated students to join a 12-week Vacation Student – Surveying program at Narrabri Mine near Gunnedah. The role provides hands-on experience in site-based mining operations, mentored by experienced surveyors and technical professionals.

You will assist with surveying activities, gain access to equipment and mine planning systems, and contribute to projects supporting safety, production and compliance.

Qualifications

• Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Surveying, Spatial Science, Geospatial Engineering or related discipline.

This structured 12-week paid vacation program provides invaluable exposure to site-based mining operations, allowing you to apply your studies in a practical environment while working alongside experienced industry professionals.

What You’ll Do

As a Vacation Student in Surveying, you’ll work closely with our site surveying team and gain exposure to a broad range of activities that support safe and efficient mining operations. You will:

• Assist with mine surveying activities and data collection
• Gain practical experience using surveying equipment, software and mine planning systems
• Support surveyors with field work and operational projects
• Learn how survey data contributes to mine design, production and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with engineers, geologists and operational teams across site
• Develop an understanding of mining operations, safety systems and industry best practice
