Job summary

Whitehaven Coal invites motivated students to join a 12-week Vacation Student – Surveying program at Narrabri Mine near Gunnedah. The role provides hands-on experience in site-based mining operations, mentored by experienced surveyors and technical professionals.

You will assist with surveying activities, gain access to equipment and mine planning systems, and contribute to projects supporting safety, production and compliance.

Qualifications

• Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Surveying, Spatial Science, Geospatial Engineering or related discipline.
• Demonstrated interest in mining and resources.
• Strong commitment to safety, integrity and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with mine surveying activities and data collection.
• Gain practical experience using surveying equipment and software.
• Support surveyors with field work and projects.
• Learn how survey data contributes to mine design and compliance.
• Collaborate with engineers, geologists and site teams.
