Job summary

ISGroup in Sydney is seeking a Utilities Locator to support field subsurface utility investigations within the LandSurveys and IntelliSpatial projects. The role reports to the Operational Manager and focuses on locating, identifying and marking underground utilities using GPR and locating equipment.

You will collect data, interpret utility plans, manage project workflows and assist in training junior locators, contributing to accurate project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in Utility Surveys using GPR and EMF detectors.
• Proficient with remote access to digital devices and technology.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately locate, identify and mark all underground utilities to Utility Mapping colour code standard in assigned areas.
• Operate locating equipment including handheld pipe/cable locators and GPR.
• Collect, record and manage utility data to meet project requirements.
• Interpret existing utility information plans and GPR data.
• Manage workflow and assignment of projects, including BYDA information, field notes and sketches.
• Train trainee utility locators.

About therole:

Reporting tothe Operational Manager, a Utility Locator undertakes field tasks related tosubsurface utility investigation projects, supporting utility survey andproject teams to ensure project outcomes are met.

Keyresponsibilities:

• Accuratelylocate, identify and mark all underground utilities to Utility Mapping colourcode standard in areas as indicated within working instructions
• Workwith locating equipment including using standard handheld pipe and cablelocating equipment and ground penetrating radar (GPR) to facilitate locatingthe utilities
• Collect,record and manage utility data to meet project requirements
• Interpretexisting utility information plans and ground penetrating radar survey data
• Manageworkflow and assignment of projects, including preparation of BYDA information,field notes and sketches
• Trainingof trainee utility locators

You’llthrive in our team if you have:

• Experiencein undertaking Utility Surveys using GPR (ground penetrating radar) systems,EMF (electromagnetic frequency) detectors and survey equipment
• Proficiencyin remote access to digital devices and technology
• Stronginterpersonal and communication skills

• Industryqualifications in utility locating (CertLoc. Certified Locator; NULCACertification)
• ConstructionIndustry Induction card
• NationalPolice Check
