Job summary

City of Whittlesea is inviting applications for a Plant Operator in the Urban Maintenance team. You will help deliver asphalt pothole repairs, maintain plant and equipment, and support depot operations with a safety-conscious, quality-driven approach.

The role requires relevant experience or qualifications, a valid MR/HR licence with Backhoe ticket, and a strong team mindset. Hybrid working options and a fixed-term contract ending January 2027 are offered.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification and/or several years' experience in a similar role.
• Demonstrate attention to detail with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet required timeframes.
• Have strong values that align with the organisational values.
• Have the ability to work in a small partnering team building strong relationships as a unified team.
• Valid Driver’s Licence with MR or HR endorsement.
• Backhoe competency ticket.

Responsibilities

• Manage an effective service delivery of asphalt pothole repairs, asphalt dip regulations, asphalt trip hazards in footpaths and collection of dumped rubbish.
• Assist with urban maintenance activities within the council’s depot operations in a cost effective, safe manner within set quality standards.
• Daily maintenance of all allocated plant and equipment, including cleaning, fueling, oiling and greasing.
• Strict adherence to OH&S legislation, requirements and Council policies.
