Hooker & Heijden is seeking a Senior Underwriter – Financial Lines (Team Lead) in Sydney to lead a 3-person underwriting team. The role focuses on complex Professional Indemnity and Financial Lines risks, with responsibility for coaching, referrals, terms and broker negotiations.

The successful candidate will drive portfolio growth and profitability while contributing to underwriting guidelines and team development within a renowned specialist insurance recruitment environment.

Qualifications

• Senior Financial Lines or Professional Indemnity underwriting experience
• Team leadership, 2IC or mentoring experience
• Strong technical knowledge of wordings, pricing and risk selection
• Strong written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Underwriting complex Professional Indemnity and Financial Lines risks within your authority
• Leading, coaching and developing a team of 3 underwriters
• Reviewing and signing off referrals from the team
• Negotiating terms, conditions and pricing with brokers

Senior Underwriter, Financial Lines (Team Lead) | Sydney

Its Australian portfolio includes Financial Lines, Casualty and Accident & Health, with Professional Indemnity a core part of the local offering.

About the Role

This is a Senior Underwriter role with team leadership. You will lead a team of 3 in Sydney, with scope to grow the team as the portfolio grows.

The role needs a strong technical underwriter and a strong people leader.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Underwriting complex Professional Indemnity and Financial Lines risks within your authority;
• Leading, coaching and developing a team of 3 underwriters;
• Reviewing and signing off referrals from the team;
• Negotiating terms, conditions and pricing with brokers;
• Building and holding senior broker relationships across the Sydney market;

About You
