Job summary

Zurich in Australia/New Zealand is seeking an Underwriter within the Financial Lines team to drive sustainable growth. You will work with brokers, customers, and underwriting colleagues to assess complex risks and deliver profitable outcomes across a diverse Financial Lines portfolio.

This role combines technical underwriting with commercial thinking in a digitally transforming organization, offering autonomy in decision-making and opportunities to mentor emerging talent while shaping the future

Qualifications

• Demonstrated underwriting experience across Financial Lines products such as D&O, Professional Indemnity, Management Liability, and Cyber.
• Experience developing and managing broker and distribution partnerships.
• Proven ability to grow a portfolio and execute business strategies within a complex insurance environment.

Responsibilities

• Managing new and renewal Financial Lines business within delegated authority levels while maintaining portfolio profitability.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, distributors, and customers to support growth and retention outcomes.
• Identifying and developing new business opportunities aligned with Zurich’s underwriting strategy.
• Providing technical underwriting expertise and guidance across Financial Lines products and coverage matters.
• Supporting underwriting capability through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and data-driven decision making across the portfolio.

As an Underwriter within our Financial Lines team, you’ll play a key role in driving sustainable growth across Australia and New Zealand. You will also be responsible for the following:

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

• Demonstrated underwriting experience across Financial Lines products such as D&O, Professional Indemnity, Management Liability, and Cyber.
• Experience developing and managing broker and distribution partnerships.
• Proven ability to grow a portfolio and execute business strategies within a complex insurance environment.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with a sound understanding of portfolio performance.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or developing less experienced underwriters.
• Strong knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand General Insurance market and regulatory environment.
