Perilya Limited's Broken Hill Operations is seeking a Ventilation Officer to join our Technical Services team. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient underground working conditions across our Broken Hill mining operations.

This is a role for someone who thrives underground, has strong attention to detail, and enjoys combining fieldwork, analysis, and problem-solving to keep people safe and production running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of underground ventilation systems, airflow behaviour, and contaminant control.
• Experience with ventilation surveys, gas testing, and environmental monitoring equipment.
• Proficiency with ventilation modelling software.
• Knowledge of statutory ventilation requirements, emergency ventilation principles, and fan performance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the mine’s ventilation system to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient underground conditions.
• Conduct ventilation surveys, gas testing, environmental monitoring, and workplace inspections.
• Maintain and update ventilation models, plans, registers, and statutory documentation.
• Assess ventilation performance, identify issues, and recommend corrective or optimisation actions.
• Collaborate with Planning and Technical Services while supporting ventilation‑related projects and improvements.
