Job summary

Kestrel Coal Pty Ltd is recruiting a Shift Undermanager to lead underground mining operations on the appointed shift, working with the Underground Mine Manager to ensure safe, compliant and efficient delivery and uphold SHMS standards. You’ll provide clear direction to crews underground and support continuous improvement across the operation.

As a Section 60(8) appointee, you will control underground activities when the Underground Mine Manager is not on site, mentoring teams to achieve Zero

Qualifications

• Hold a current Queensland 1st or 2nd Class Undermanager Certificate (or be working towards completion) or NSW mutual recognition.
• Experience supervising large-scale longwall underground mining operations.
• Demonstrated leadership under operational pressure and decision-making ability.
• Strong communication with crews, peers and site leaders.

Responsibilities

• Support the Underground Mine Manager to control and manage underground activities across your shift.
• Maintain statutory compliance with legislation, site standards and SHMS.
• Contribute to shift and weekly operating plans.
• Provide visible safety leadership to support a Zero Harm environment.
• Demonstrate discipline across planning, delivery, accountability and urgency.
