Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking underground Nippers for an initial three-month engagement at a major underground mining operation. The role involves maintaining safety, assisting with drill rig setup, and supporting drill crews underground.

This temporary assignment may lead to permanent opportunities with a Tier 1 mining company. Successful candidates will have underground hard-rock experience, a current Australian driver’s licence, and the right to work in Australia.

Qualifications

• Previous underground hard-rock mining experience.
• Previous Nipper or drill-crew offsiding experience will be highly regarded.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.
• Relevant underground competencies and tickets; strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work effectively with underground drill crews.
• Ability to complete a pre-employment medical and functional assessment.
• Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining clean and safe drill headings and work area
• Transporting tools, materials and supplies underground
• Conducting pre-start inspections and basic equipment checks
• Supporting production and development activities as required
• Following all site procedures and underground safety requirements
• Off siding Jumbo Operators and other drill-rig operators
• Assisting with the setup and relocation of underground drill rigs
• Handling drill steels, hoses, cables and drilling consumables
• Supplying ground-support materials and other equipment to drill crews
