Job summary

Cougar is seeking a Workshop Fitter to perform mechanical fitting, assembly, repair and maintenance on underground mining equipment. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will uphold safety, quality and production standards while delivering high-quality workmanship and keeping a tidy, safe workshop environment.

The role supports a 7/7 roster, balancing full-time employment with extended home time in a safety-focused workshop culture across Cougar's five locations.

Qualifications

• Recognised trade certificate.
• 2+ years post trade experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Sound knowledge of workshop safety procedures and safe work practices.
• Experience with underground mining equipment and mobile equipment hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• HR license including Fork Lift, Dogging, Intermediate Rigging; Overhead crane competency RIIHAN305D; ExDes RIISS00030.

Responsibilities

• Perform fitting, assembly and repair tasks on underground mining equipment to specifications and drawings.
• Review job instructions, drawings and procedures before starting work; ensure correct tooling, equipment and parts available.
• Complete build and job-related documentation, including checklists, inspection reports and time entries in line with workshop requirements.
• Work to required tolerances and quality standards, raising any defects, non-conformances or design concerns with the supervisor.
• Safely operate workshop machinery, tools and lifting equipment in accordance with procedures.
• Work effectively with other team members to achieve schedules and targets.
