Job summary

South32 is hiring an Operations Scheduling Engineer for our Cannington operation in northwest Queensland. The role is permanent with an 8:6 FIFO roster, supported from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.

You will drive alignment to the weekly mining schedule, partner with Short-Term Scheduling and Operations teams, and push continuous improvements to underground mine planning and execution.

Qualifications

• Experience in underground mining operations.
• Knowledge of stope, development, drill and blast, ventilation, backfill, and/or short-term planning.
• Deswik Ops experience highly regarded.
• Innovate and drive continuous improvement.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive execution of weekly schedule through daily re-alignment meeting and follow up actions.
• Daily problem-solver for execution team - the aim is to reduce idle time and fight fires efficiently.
• Scoping to support weekly and monthly schedule delivery.
• Take initiative to identify and suggest improvements for underground mining operations.
