Job summary

BHP's Prominent Hill site in Australia is seeking an Operator Mine Control Underground to coordinate underground and surface activities, ensuring safety and efficient production. This role operates within a fast-paced control room environment, using real-time data and stakeholder input to drive performance.

You will work with operators, supervisors, and site teams, managing priorities and contributing to ongoing improvements while adhering to high safety standards.

Qualifications

• Underground mining experience in production operations.
• Experience in a mine control room or similar operational coordination role.
• Strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office and monitoring systems such as Citect.
• Well-developed communication skills to engage with stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with data accuracy.
• Ability to manage competing priorities with a calm, professional approach.
• Proactive with teamwork, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Commitment to health, safety and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and dispatch the underground haulage fleet in line with operational priorities.
• Monitor underground and surface activities to support safe, efficient and productive mining operations.
• Maintain accurate operational data and reporting, including validating updates from stakeholders.
• Monitor equipment/statuses to support daily production performance.
• Manage hazard registers, signage requirements and surface cone registers.
• Oversee underground infrastructure monitoring through Citect systems and coordinate fault responses.
• Support emergency response activities and coordinate responses to unplanned events.
• Monitor geotechnical systems and open pit wall stability reporting.
• Coordinate underground loader servicing and surface fleet information.
• Participate in process improvement, operator coaching and pre-start presentations.
• Assist with projects focused on monitoring and performance improvements.
• Support IT fault logging and basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain compliance with procedures, safety requirements and site standards.
