Job summary

Anglo American Australia at Grosvenor Mine in Moranbah is seeking an experienced Underground Gas Drainage Coordinator to lead the planning, design, coordination and monitoring of underground gas drainage activities. You will work with Ventilation, Gas, Mine Planning, Geology and contractors to safely deliver programs ahead of development and longwall mining.

The role requires strong underground coal experience, knowledge of gas drainage design, and the ability to manage drilling operations,

Qualifications

• Underground coal mining experience.
• Experience coordinating underground in-seam drilling or gas drainage programs.
• Knowledge of coal seam gas behaviour and borehole design.
• Experience interpreting mine plans, geological data and gas monitoring results.
• Understanding of risk controls, permits and compliance requirements.
• Ability to assess drainage performance and suggest corrective actions.
• Strong planning, organisation and contractor management skills.
• Clear written communication and record management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the safe planning and delivery of underground gas drainage activities.
• Design drilling patterns aligned with the mine plan and geological data.
• Develop borehole designs and maintain accurate flight plans.
• Review gas content, permeability and borehole data to guide drilling.
• Coordinate drilling schedules to precede development and longwall mining.
• Monitor borehole performance and gas flow to assess drainage effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with permits, procedures and safety systems.
• Provide updates to Ventilation and Gas, Operations, Mine Planning, Geology and site leadership.
