Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti Australia Limited seeks an Electrical Technician to join the Underground Electrical Maintenance team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. The role operates on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster with direct flights from Perth and Kalgoorlie, reporting to the Underground Electrical Maintenance Supervisor.

You will perform repairs, installation and maintenance on underground electrical systems, with after-hours call-out and shutdown support as required.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted WA Electrical Licence is essential.
• Electrical Instrumentation Certificate, PLCs and Automation experience desirable.
• Underground mining electrical maintenance experience preferred.
• Mining/heavy industry electrical maintenance background advantageous.
• Knowledge of WHS (Mines) regs and AS/NZS 3000.
• Current High Voltage Switching certificate (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, maintenance and installation on motors, VSDs, transformers, substations and electrical distribution systems.
• Carry out scheduled statutory work safely and efficiently.
• Install and maintain underground reticulation for reliable power.
• Conduct breakdown and maintenance tasks on underground drilling equipment.
• Review plans and work orders to determine repair sequences.
• Be available for after-hours call-outs on a roster.
• Assist with shutdowns or power isolation coordination.

We are now seeking an Electrical Technicianto join our Underground Electrical Maintenance team in our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. Reporting to the Underground Electrical Maintenance Supervisor: you will have the opportunity to provide front line support and ensure all electrical works are carried out in a safe, timely, cost effective and environmentally responsible manner.

This role is based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster, we operate direct flights to our sites from Perth and Kalgoorlie.

Accountabilities:

• Doing repairs, maintenance and installation activities on infrastructure such as, motors, VSDs, transformers, substations, starter panels, distribution boards, RMU’s, ventilation fans, dewatering systems, instrumentation, communications, lighting, and other electrical systems
• Carrying out scheduled statutory requirements work safely and efficiently.
• Installing and maintaining underground reticulation systems, ensuring reliable power distribution.
• Conducting breakdown and maintenance tasks on underground drilling equipment to minimize downtime.
• Studying plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and or installations
• Availability after hours on a “Call Out” roster basis to respond to any equipment breakdown
• Assist with equipment maintenance shutdown or power isolation co-ordination and execution

About You

• Unrestricted WA Electrical Licence (Essential)
• Electrical Instrumentation Certificate, PLCs and Automation experience (Desirable)
• Data cabler’s license advantageous
• Mining or heavy industry electrical maintenance experience (Essential)
• Underground Mining electrical maintenance experience is preferred
• Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations, AS/NZS 3000 and other relevant Australian Standards.
• Current High Voltage Switching certificate – however can assist with obtaining
• Computer literacy: Word, Excel, Microsoft Projects, and SAP
• WA ‘C’ Class manual driver’s license
• Senior First Aid
• Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (mandatory)
