Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti Australia seeks an experienced Electrical Technician to join the Underground Electrical Maintenance team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. This FIFO role on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster reports to the Underground Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, delivering frontline support and safe, efficient electrical works.

Applicants should hold an unrestricted WA Electrical Licence, mining maintenance experience, and be comfortable with underground environments.

Qualifications

• WA Electrical Licence is essential.
• Mining/heavy industry electrical maintenance experience required.
• Underground mining electrical maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of WHS Mines Regulations, AS/NZS 3000, and Australian Standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, maintenance and installation on motors, transformers, substations, switchgear, RMUs, ventilation and other electrical systems.
• Carry out scheduled statutory requirements safely and efficiently.
• Install and maintain underground reticulation and power distribution.
• Support breakdown and maintenance tasks on underground drilling equipment to minimize downtime.
• Review plans, drawings and work orders to determine requirements and sequence of work.

The Opportunity

We are now seeking an Electrical Technician to join our Underground Electrical Maintenance team in our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. Reporting to the Underground Electrical Maintenance Supervisor: you will have the opportunity to provide front line support and ensure all electrical works are carried out in a safe, timely, cost effective and environmentally responsible manner.

This role is based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster, we operate direct flights to our sites from Perth and Kalgoorlie.

Accountabilities:

• Doing repairs, maintenance and installation activities on infrastructure such as, motors, VSDs, transformers, substations, starter panels, distribution boards, RMU's, ventilation fans, dewatering systems, instrumentation, communications, lighting, and other electrical systems
• Carrying out scheduled statutory requirements work safely and efficiently.
• Installing and maintaining underground reticulation systems, ensuring reliable power distribution.
• Conducting breakdown and maintenance tasks on underground drilling equipment to minimize downtime.
• Studying plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and or installations
• Availability after hours on a "Call Out" roster basis to respond to any equipment breakdown
• Assist with equipment maintenance shutdown or power isolation co-ordination and execution

To be considered, we would like to see you have:

• Unrestricted WA Electrical Licence (Essential)
• Electrical Instrumentation Certificate, PLCs and Automation experience (Desirable)
• Data cabler's license advantageous
• Mining or heavy industry electrical maintenance experience (Essential)
• Underground Mining electrical maintenance experience is preferred
• Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations, AS/NZS 3000 and other relevant Australian Standards.
• Current High Voltage Switching certificate - however can assist with obtaining
• Computer literacy: Word, Excel, Microsoft Projects, and SAP
• WA ‘C' Class manual driver's license
• Senior First Aid
• Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (mandatory)
