Job summary

Barminco is seeking an experienced Communications Technician to join our team on a full-time basis with FIFO rosters from Perth. The role focuses on installing, commissioning and maintaining underground communications across leaky feeder, fibre, digital radios and Wi-Fi networks.

You will work with mining operations, electrical engineering and IT/OT teams to ensure low-latency, secure connectivity for tele-remote operations and real-time data streaming.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Telecommunications, Electronics, Information Technology or equivalent.
• ACMA Open Cabling Registration with endorsed Structured/Coaxial Cabling.
• Mining/industrial experience, preferably underground.
• Demonstrated installation, commissioning and maintenance of comms infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain underground communications infrastructure.
• Support deployment of mining technology platforms.
• Assist in tele-remote mining system maintenance and integration.
• Install IoT devices, sensors and telemetry equipment.
• Collaborate with operations, electrical, and IT/OT teams.
• Monitor and optimise network performance for autonomous operations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across teams.
