Job summary

Peabody is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Training Superintendent to join the Centurion underground mine, about 160 kilometres west of Mackay. You will lead the site's Health, Safety, Training and Emergency Management functions and drive continuous improvement in safety performance, workforce capability and risk management.

Qualifications

• Senior Health, Safety and/or Training leadership role within underground coal mining.
• Experience with Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence safety outcomes.
• Experience managing training systems and competency frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
• Management-level statutory qualifications or equivalent underground coal mining experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead Health, Safety and Training teams to achieve site safety objectives.
• Drive compliance with legislation, Peabody standards and site systems.
• Develop and implement HS&T and emergency response strategies.
• Provide coaching on risk management, incident prevention and critical controls.
• Oversee training frameworks, competency management and workforce development.
• Lead incident investigations, audits, inspections and continuous improvement.
• Monitor safety performance using leading and lagging indicators.
• Foster a proactive safety culture with accountability and leadership.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or related discipline
