Peabody Energy is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Training Superintendent to lead the Safety, Training and Emergency Management functions at the Centurion underground mine, ~160 km west of Mackay. Reporting to Compliance Manager, you’ll drive safety performance, workforce capability and risk management systems to support long-term operation.

Qualifikationen

• Senior leadership experience in underground coal mining health and safety.
• Strong knowledge ofQueensland Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing safety outcomes.
• Experience managing training systems and competency frameworks.
• Management-level statutory qualifications or equivalent will be highly regarded.

The Opportunity

Peabody is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Training Superintendent to join the team at our Centurion underground mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for leading the site’s Health, Safety, Training and Emergency Management functions. You will play a critical role in driving the continual improvement of safety performance, workforce capability, compliance and risk management systems while supporting the successful ramp-up and long-term operation of Centurion Mine.

Your Impact

• Lead and develop the Health, Safety and Training teams to achieve site safety and business objectives.
• Drive compliance with Queensland coal mining legislation, Peabody standards and site management systems.
• Develop and implement health, safety, training and emergency response strategies aligned with operational requirements.
• Provide expert advice and coaching to leaders on risk management, incident prevention and critical controls.
• Oversee training frameworks, competency management and workforce development programs.
• Lead incident investigations, audits, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor site performance through the analysis of leading and lagging safety indicators.
• Foster a proactive safety culture built on accountability, engagement and visible leadership.

About You

You are an experienced and safety-focused leader with a strong understanding of underground coal mining operations. You are passionate about developing people, strengthening workforce capability and delivering practical improvements across health, safety, training and risk management.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience in a senior Health, Safety and/or Training leadership role within underground coal mining.
• Strong understanding of Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation and associated obligations.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence positive safety outcomes.
• Experience managing training systems, competency frameworks and workforce capability programs.Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and leadership skills.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Health and Safety, Training, Risk Management or a related discipline.
• Management-level statutory qualifications or experience within underground coal mining will be highly regarded.
