Job summary

HMR is seeking an experienced Underground Charge Up Operator to join our NSW underground mining operations. The role involves safe handling, preparation, and firing of explosives underground, with camp accommodation and meals provided where applicable.

You will work within a safety-focused team, following blast plans and site procedures while maintaining compliance and accurate documentation. Ongoing training and development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Current Shotfirer’s Licence or ability to obtain.
• Experience in underground charge-up and explosives handling.
• Strong understanding of underground mining environments.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle, prepare, and fire explosives underground.
• Operate and maintain charge-up equipment in accordance with site procedures.
• Follow blast plans, supervisor instructions, and safety protocols.
• Maintain compliance with site safety standards and legislative requirements.
• Complete charging and blast documentation accurately.
• Participate in toolbox talks, training, and safety meetings.
• Assist with general underground mining activities as required.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and production crews.

The Opportunity

HMR is seeking experienced Underground Charge Up Operators to join our growing operations across NSW underground mining sites.

In this critical role, you will be responsible for the safe handling, preparation, and firing of explosives while supporting efficient underground mining operations. Working within a professional and safety-focused environment, you will play an important part in maintaining productivity, compliance, and operational excellence underground.

This is an excellent opportunity to secure a permanent position with a well-established mining contractor and work alongside experienced industry professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely handle, prepare, and fire explosives underground


• Operate and maintain charge-up equipment in accordance with site procedures


• Follow blast plans, supervisor instructions, and safety protocols


• Maintain compliance with site safety standards and legislative requirements


• Complete charging and blast documentation accurately


• Participate in toolbox talks, training, and safety meetings


• Assist with general underground mining activities as required


• Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and production crews

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Current Shotfirer's Licence or ability to obtain


• Previous underground charge-up and explosives handling experience


• Sound understanding of underground mining environments


• Strong commitment to safe work practices


• Ability to work effectively within a team environment

Additional Requirements

• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening


• Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)


• Current driver's licence


• Commitment to adhering to all site safety and compliance requirements
