Job summary

The Carrapateena team at BHP is seeking a Mining Engineer to deliver the weekly mine plan for an underground copper‑gold operation in South Australia. You will work with underground crews, ensure safety and cost controls, and drive performance improvements as the project moves from Sub Level Cave to Block Cave development.

Qualifications

• Underground mining experience with BC or SLC considered.
• Experience in mine design, scheduling and development activities.
• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering.
• UG experience of at least two years is essential.
• Ability to interact with multiple internal stakeholders.
• Experience in contract administration is valued.
• Project management experience is valued.
• Strong time management and problem solving skills.
• Experience with mine planning software (Deswik preferred).

Responsibilities

• Liaise with underground crews to develop and implement practical ideas.
• Data reporting and analysis.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity and operations.
• Monitor day-to-day mining operations against plans and quality standards.
• Provide inputs to planning, technical teams on execution plans and forecasts.
• Scope, create and implement site instructions as required; support site projects.
