Job summary

Centurion Mine, operated by Peabody Energy, seeks an experienced Outbye Belt Fitter to join our team. You will inspect, maintain and repair underground conveyor belt systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation to support production in a demanding mining environment.

You will bring extensive underground belt experience, fault-finding skills and a strong safety mindset. The role offers 7/7 rosters, residential or FIFO options and a pathway for career growth within a world‑class operation.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years as Mechanical Technician/Fitter in underground mining.
• Experience maintaining underground conveyor belt systems.
• Experience installing/replacing belt clips and splices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance across underground conveyor systems.
• Inspect, maintain and repair conveyor belts, drive units, gearboxes, rollers, idlers, pulleys, scrapers, take‑ups, structures and transfer stations.
• Carry out belt tracking, alignment, splicing and belt repairs.
• Replace worn or damaged components and diagnose mechanical failures.
• Identify opportunities to improve conveyor reliability and reduce downtime.
• Support reliability improvement initiatives and shutdown planning.
• Complete pre‑start inspections and document maintenance in the CMMS.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and maintenance teams to ensure safe operations.
• Develop safe work procedures and maintenance standards.
