Silverstrand Developments invites an undergraduate Quantity Surveyor to join the team for a summer cadetship, with full-time participation during November to February and flexible part-time options around study. You will learn from experienced leaders across Brisbane–Gold Coast region projects and diverse civil works.

Ideal candidates are current Quantity Surveying undergrads, with a White Card and a passion for civil construction, ready to learn on site and in the office while supporting

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a Quantity Surveyor undergraduate.
• Must hold a White Card.
• Interest in civil construction and learning from professionals.

Responsibilities

• Learn pre-contract processes and tendering.
• Assist with data collection and reporting for projects.
• Work with project teams on budgeting and cost tracking.
• Support administration tasks for the project team.
• Explore post-contract processes and project handovers.

About the Opportunity

Cadetship or Summer holiday students – are typically year first to third year university students that participate in paid work, whilst completing their education. The program would run throughout November to February during the summer holidays in a full-time work capacity, and part-time outside of those months with flexibility around study.

This is a great way to utilise your academic knowledge and understanding, and turn it into practical, real-world capabilities to further your university studies and your future Quantity Surveying career. Development pathways in different disciplines of civil post and precontracts and the ability to network and be mentored by a variety of experienced project teams.

Starting your undergraduate journey with Silverstrand. This opportunity is aimed for undergraduate Quantity Surveyors looking to get a taste of what a career within the civil industry would be like. This will include working on Civil projects ranging from FRP Concrete Structures, Pipe work projects, Road projects, Drainage, Bridges, Renewable Energy, Gas projects, WWTPs, etc.

Your daily responsibilities may include

• Learning pre-contract processes
• Working on Tenders
• Learning post-contract processes
• Assisting with data collection and reporting
• Working collaboratively with the project team
• Undertaking general administration duties for the project team
• Learning budgets and track costing from tenders and project allocations

About you

• Be a current Quantity Surveyor undergraduate.
• Ability to commit to working full time – Mon to Fri throughout the Summer Holidays.
• Hold a white card.
• Have a passion for Civil construction and the willingness to learn from great industry professionals.
• Motivated to want to learn and be challenged on site and in the office.
• Relevant industry experience is highly regarded but not essential.
• A current driver's licence and access to reliable transport (P1, P2 or Full).
